Amaran box office Day 17: Sivakarthikeyan’s film picks up as Kanguva slows down

Amaran entered into its third weekend on Friday, and continued to register an impressive performance at the box office. The film’s growth in the third weekend is also because of the negative reviews that Kanguva received, which eventually worked in Amaran’s favour at the ticket window.
After collecting Rs 57.25 crore nett in its second week, the Sivakarthikeyan film is looking at wrapping the third weekend business in the range of Rs 15-20 crore nett in India, taking its 17-day collection to near Rs 200 crore nett.
The biographical drama, which is based on the life of Major Mukund Varadarajan, earned Rs 6 crore on its third Saturday. Amaran currently stands at Rs 181.70 crore nett in India after 17 days at the box office, reported the trade website Sacnilk.
Out of this Rs 181.70 crore, around Rs 143 crore nett came from Tamil Nadu alone. The audiences love for Amaran is visible in its home state. In the absence of any other release, it is the only film benefitting from Kanguva’s slow run at the box office.
Directed by Rajkumar Periasamy, the film is expected to reach its benchmark of Rs 200 crore before ending its lifetime run in India. With no other film challenging its smooth run in the near future, it will be interesting to see how far can Amaran go.
